20 December - Homegrown Xmas Throwdown

This weekend brings the final Homegrown residency of 2008 at the Canteen Cinema Room. This month the Homegrown Djs will be joined for a live performance by very special guest Zenfo’s M.C. Gav Sta (a.k.a. Von Jeetz)

Zenfo are the Manchester based hip hop phenomenon with fans across the UK. With praise and recognition coming from fans and the media including 1xtra’s Trevor Nelson, Zenfo have received sponsorship from a hip hop clothing store Phatlife.com. This and interest from producers and labels all over Europe means 2009 will definitely be Zenfo’s year. Zenfo’s live crew is made up of Gavsta, Dj Ratskul & G-Zus. They perform rousing and hypnotic live sets with live guitars, saxophone, scratching and masterful poetix from Gavsta.

Support slots across the UK for this talented group have included Afrika Bambaataa, Kelly Rowland and Last week they played alongside Nightmares on Wax. If you are lucky enough to catch this unique performance you will see why Zenfo are one of the most talented hip hop crews to emerge out of the North of England for a very long time. Gav is looking forward to bringing his unique style of tongue in cheek rhymes and beats to barrow saying “looking forward to seeing all the farmers again. Should be a chizzle, gonna pick up some fashion tips while I’m there. If there is any xmas dinners going we down for that”

The Homegrown Xmas special will begin at 9pm on Saturday, expect the usual party atmosphere with the finest funk hip hop and yuletide breaks beats and treats. entry will be £5 on the door.
